Scholarships and Discounts

Model United Nations is an experience that is valuable to anyone who participates in it. Northwest Model United Nations is committed to ensuring that anyone can participate in Model United Nations, regardless of socioeconomic status. Whether students or teams are from low-income areas, are not funded by their college or university, or just need a little extra help this year to ensure they can attend, NWMUN is committed to doing what we can to make this opportunity possible for anyone.

In order to receive any of the discounts or scholarships mentioned below, please first fill out the registration request form and pay the initial registration fee. Then submit the applications linked to below (if applicable), and we will respond to confirm the application, and later, to inform applicants of the result of their application.

As 2024 is the first year of NWMUN-HS, we can only offer one discount and one scholarship. We expect this conference to grow and develop, and as such pledge to increase the opportunities for a lower cost of attendance for our participants in future years.

Scholarships

Junior Staff Scholarship (individual scholarship)

Eligibility: Any individual who volunteers as a Junior Staffer at either of our two college conferences (NWMUN-Seattle or NWMUN-Portland) will receive this scholarship. An individual must sign in and out to volunteer for two sessions over the course of the weekend (each being 2-4 hours in length)

Scholarship: Award recipients will have their entire fee waived, making it free to attend.

Disbursal Method: When registering, faculty advisers will pay the delegation fee and fill out a form. In that form, they will name the specific individual(s) who have served or will serve as Junior Staff. The faculty adviser will then be sent an invoice for the fees (with no charge for the individuals named). In the event one or more students named is unable to serve as Junior Staff, the school will be sent a follow-up invoice for the remaining fees. Students who serve as Junior Staff and receive this scholarship must bring their Student ID to the registration desk at NWMUN-High School 2024.
